iTunes Videos
Last weekend, Elise and I had
another event, so she missed watching an episode of Desperate Housewives. I
figured this was the perfect chance to try out the downloadable TV episodes you
can buy from the iTunes Music Store. It's only $1.99, and you get to miss 16 1/2
minutes of
commercials!
It took a
while to download 215.5 MB, but the results were pretty good. Elise watched on
her Mac, which has a 1024 x 768 pixel LCD display, in full-screen mode. The
picture wasn't DVD quality, but it looked to me about as good as it does on our
TV, with no blatant compression artifacts. It sounded like TV,
too.
Elise seemed to be
satisfied with the viewing experience, so I have to rate the process positively.
My only complaint is the lack of selection, which hopefully will change over
time.
(It is a bit odd
that you buy from the Music Store, and play with iTunes, but I excuse this since
it's existing infrastructure.)
